Hated the idea of leaving
Paris, but the time had to come. Rob and I woke up around 11:00 AM or so and
checked out of the hotel, the worker behind the counter called a cab to pick
us up and take us to the airport. We ate at a McDonalds there at the airport
for lunch then went to out Tower Air terminal, waited on a very long line for
security, then checked in our bags.
Boarding the airplane was
bittersweet, flying is always fascinating for me, but this was the
flight out of Paris. There was a bit of sadness leaving Paris behind and
getting one last glance of it as we were taking off. Fortunately I had a
window seat this time in the 747 jet, so I was able to see Paris and the
Eiffel Tower one last time from the plane as we flew right over Paris about
five to ten minutes after taking off.
I videotaped the takeoff and
some other brief recording moments throughout the flight back home, I didn't
get to do that on the flight going but wish I did now.
After we landed and disembarked
from the plane we headed to the bag return, my bag of course was with the last
of the load to get emptied from the plane, so I had to wait a very long time
for my bag.
Scott, Mom, and Brooke were
there to pick Rob and I up. It's funny, after I grabbed my bag Rob went a
little bit ahead of me to play a trick on my mother so she would only see Rob
come out into the airport lobby. When she saw him she asked where I was, Rob's
reply was that I decided to stay over there and didn't want to come back. LOL!
Mom's reaction was, "I KNEW IT!!" She was afraid I would do
something like that. But, she then saw that I came out a minute later. Funny
stuff.
After dropping Rob off at his
house we headed straight home, of course it was good to be back home after ten
days, but felt like I missed Paris really bad and still wished I wasn't home
yet. I never felt like that after a trip before, usually after the end of a
trip I'm ready to be back home and have the vacation end. Not so with my Paris
vacation, I didn't want it to end for anything.
That night we got pizza after
Dad came home from the Sunday evening church service, it was good, however, to
have Long Island pizza again. Paris had great pizza, but Long Island pizza was
something I still missed.
For the rest of the night I
showed a few clips from my Paris videos to Mom, Dad, and Brooke, then I
unpacked a few things. I was really tired from the jet lag and all the
traveling and had to adjust back to New York time, so I went to bed around
11:30 PM or sometime after. I'm not usually tired till after 12:30 or more,
but with all the time differences and everything I was just worn out.
Awesome trip, I hope to return
there one day again and get to see the things I missed when I was there. Ten
days sounds like a long time, but it really isn't enough time to do a lot of
other things.
I recommend anyone to take a
trip to Paris.
