Tattooing is colourizing the skin in an artful fashion - some people claim that this is defacing what God has given to us. A Tattoo artist does not think he is "defacing" the skin = but enhancing it through art.
Colourizing the hair is an attempt to alter the colour of the hair from that which God originally gave. To deface something means to alter it negatively - how is colourizing the hair not altering the person's God-given hair colour.
