> I think you're kidda making a big thing out of nothing. What does Satan have to do with Darth Maul? Maul is just a movie character. I often times find myself "rooting for the bad guy", that doesn't mean that I like evil.
I think that Laura does have a point here. There is no doubt in my mind that Darth Maul does represent the satanic. However, the devil can do far more damage with his lies if he mixes a bit of truth in among them.
When he tempts Jesus (Mat. 4:6) he quotes Scripture. Jesus does not rebuke the devil for quoting Scripture - just the application the devil uses.
This is something we all need to learn - to be discerning - to be able to see the difference between the lie and the truth. Such wisdom we need to ask of God for, but we also need to develop this talent by actually being exposed to and criticizing such "half-lies"!
Movies are a good way to do so. We need to be able to "pick out" the good parts (those ideas in a movie which are consistent with Biblical Truth) and reject the "bad parts".
I certainly do not agree with Alex's view that it is "just a movie". Such a view would lead one to think that it is ok to see the most extreme horror movies around - or even justify the viewing of pornography!
After all - they are "just movies"!
Be careful Alex - that view is very dangerous.
Your brother in Jesus,
