Hi Rob, you bring up some good points, but I just have one thing to say to you, concerning Rahab...
You claimed in another one of your posts, as well as in private discussion that her motive was good, so God blessed her, and that she was ignorant on the topic of sin, so God didn't hold it against her....
I think that you are missing something important here, Ignorance is not an excuse. If you sin, you sin, whether you know it's a sin or not.
I discussed this topic with my parents, and my dad's thoughts on the topic came to this:
They asked for her help, and she had to think of a way to hide them, but she chose an ungodly way to do it.
My agruement with my dad was, nowhere in the passage does God say what she did was wrong! Why didn't the writer think it necessary to comment that she did it HER way instead of GOD'S way. When you read the passage all you see is that God blessed her.
So, my statement still stands, Rahab didn't sin.
