Greetings:

So I thought I would share it with you all...

Remember when Moses was leaving Eqypt and God sent the plagues? The last plague was the Angel of Death being sent to all of the firstborn sons of Egypt. The Bible records that the first born of the Pharaoh was slain as well:

And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the first-born of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the first-born of the cattle, Deuteronomy 12:29

I was just reading a Biblical archaeologist who makes a good case that this "first-born of Pharaoh" was the boy-king Tutankhamen! The archaeologist notes several things:

1) Amenhotep the Third (Tut's father) his mummy was never found. That is because he perished in the Red Sea with his army.

2) The reign of Tut coinsides with the Exodus from Egypt. There can be only one "first-born" son of Pharaoh at the time and Tut is the only viable candidate.

3) Tut is called a "King" or "Pharaoh" because in Egypt there was alwasy a co-regency between the father (the true "Pharaoh") and his son. This is so in order to smooth the transition of power when the father dies.

4)History records a power vacuum in Egypt just after the Exodus. With the son (Tut) dead and his father dead as well Tut's mother applies for a husband among the royal family of the Hittites. The correspondence of the Queen of Egypt to the Hittite King is preserved in the Tel-Amarna Letters. The Queen says to the Hittite King, "My Husband has died and I have no son."

5) Other evidence is provided but it is complex geneological data which is too much for this post.

I think that is the most fascinating thing I have learned this past month. To think that when you look at the face mask of King Tut you are looking at a piece of Biblical History - a physical testimony that God actually did bring His people out of Egypt as it is written in the Bible.

Wow
